Afterclose: Night Delivery beginner guide
In Afterclose: Night Delivery you steer Pico with one finger, pick up cargo, bump the register to cash it in and reach the shift quota before the 60-second timer runs out. This guide explains the controls, how a payout is scored and what to do in your first run.
In short
- Drag anywhere to move. Pico picks up nearby cargo, and the Scan attacks nearby threats on its own.
- Cash in 2 to 3 cargo at once for ×1.3 to ×1.7. The starting basket holds 3.
- Cash in again within 20 seconds to keep your Combo going (+15% per step).
- A hit while you carry cargo only spills it (pick it up within 5 seconds). A hit while empty-handed costs HP.
- A standard shift lasts 60 seconds. Reach the quota, then leave through the exit early for an On-Time Exit Bonus.
How do the controls work?
Press and drag anywhere on the screen to move Pico. A floating joystick appears where you touch and stays there until you let go. You never aim or tap to attack: Pico picks up cargo when it gets close, and the Scan hits nearby threats automatically.
- Dash (button at the bottom right): a short burst of speed with about 0.28 seconds of invulnerability, so you can slip through a threat. It recharges in about 1.45 seconds at first. A quick flick of the thumb (swipe fast and let go) dashes in that direction too; you can switch Flick Dash off in Settings.
- Flash (lightning button): stuns every threat close to Pico for about 1.6 seconds. It recharges in about 6 seconds.
These are starting values. Upgrade cards and gear shorten the cooldowns and change the numbers.
How do cargo, the register and bundle multipliers work?
Cargo sits around the store, and the store restocks during the shift. Your basket starts with room for 3. Bump into the register in the middle of the store to cash in everything you carry; no button is needed. The more cargo you cash in at once, the higher the bundle multiplier:
| Cargo cashed in at once | Payout multiplier |
|---|---|
| 1 | ×1 |
| 2 | ×1.3 |
| 3 | ×1.7 |
| 4 | ×2.2 |
| 5 | ×2.8 |
| 6+ | ×3 |
Each level of the Big Basket card adds 2 slots, and the multiplier stops growing at ×3. At the start of a shift valuable cargo tends to sit farther from the register, so bigger bundles mean a longer trip through the store.
What are the cargo types worth?
There are 11 kinds of cargo. Points are the base value before any multiplier. Carry speed shows how much one piece changes your running speed; carrying several multiplies the effect.
| Cargo type | Points | Carry speed | While carried |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard cargo | 120 | ×1 | — |
| Golden cargo | 240 | ×0.86 | — |
| Glitched cargo | 360 | ×0.96 | Scans fire faster; raises the alert level, which makes threats faster |
| Frozen cargo | 190 | ×0.78 | Flash stuns longer and reaches farther; threats move slower |
| Volatile cargo | 280 | ×0.91 | +1 Scan damage per cargo; bursts and is lost if you are hit; raises the alert level |
| Lightweight cargo | 70 | ×1.12 | — |
| Heavy cargo | 520 | ×0.62 | — |
| Charged cargo | 260 | ×0.92 | Scans fire faster and reach farther; +1 Scan damage |
| Shielded cargo | 230 | ×0.95 | Blocks one hit for you (the cargo is used up) |
| Turbo cargo | 95 | ×1.18 | +10% move speed and a stronger Dash |
| Anchor cargo | 680 | ×0.42 | — |
How do Combo, Fever and the Jackpot Payout work?
Combo. Cash in again before the 20-second timer runs out and your Combo goes up by one. Each step adds 15% to the payout multiplier, up to Combo 5 (×1.6) at the start; cards and gear raise the cap and lengthen the timer. Being hit breaks the Combo.
Fever. Pickups, payouts and kills fill the Fever meter. When it is full, Fever Time lasts 6 seconds: payouts and kill rewards are doubled (×2).
Lucky bonuses. Any payout can roll a random bonus on top of everything else: Lucky ×2 (5%), Super Lucky ×3 (1%) or JACKPOT ×5 (0.2%).
Jackpot Payout. This is a different thing from the lucky bonuses. When a single payout is worth at least 40% of that shift's quota, the game shouts 'Jackpot Payout!!'. Below that, cashing in 5 or more cargo at once shows 'Jackpot! N Bundles!!', and otherwise a payout of at least 25% shows 'Big Payout!'. A lucky bonus shout takes priority over all of these. To trigger it, cash in a big bundle of high-value cargo (Anchor or Heavy) during a Combo or in Fever Time.
What are quotas, shifts and clocking out?
Each shift is one Day with a 60-second timer and a quota: a score you must reach, and it rises every Day. Once you reach it the exit opens. Stand at the exit for about 0.7 seconds to clock out. Leaving early pays an On-Time Exit Bonus equal to the remaining time ÷ 60 × the quota, so with 30 seconds left you collect half a quota on top. If the timer runs out after you reached the quota, the shift still counts, just without the bonus.
If the timer runs out before you reach the quota, or your HP runs out, the run ends. The last 15 seconds are the Closing Rush: threats arrive faster and in larger groups, and extra golden cargo drops into the store.
The first 3 seconds of every shift you cannot be hit (a mint-coloured shield shows it), and on Day 1 threats move 30% slower to give you time to learn. Large stores (the ones with Gear Boxes) add 8% to the timer, and some Night Contracts change it.
Boss shifts are Day 4, Day 8 and Day 12. From Day 13 the game continues as Endless Overtime, where every 5th shift has a Boss. You must defeat the Boss before you can clock out, even if the quota is already met. See the monster and boss guide.
What happens when Pico gets hit?
- Carrying cargo: the hit spills it instead of costing HP. The cargo scatters around you and can be picked up again for 5 seconds. Your Combo breaks.
- Empty-handed: the hit costs HP and breaks the Combo.
- Shielded cargo blocks one hit completely and is used up. Volatile cargo bursts and is lost when you are hit.
- When HP reaches 0 the run ends. Once per game you can Revive by watching a rewarded ad: you get extra shift time if the timer ran out, or you get back up if you ran out of HP.
How do cards, level-ups and gear fit in?
You earn XP from pickups, payouts and kills. When the bar fills, time stops and you pick one of up to three cards (at most 2 level-ups per shift). Between shifts you pick another card. A card levels up to 5, and two matching cards at level 2 unlock a combination: for example Big Basket + Light Cargo Frame becomes Big Cart (basket +1 slot, heavy cargo slows you less).
Gear drops from defeated threats and is equipped automatically when it is stronger. Between runs open Gear Setup to equip, enhance and sort your Locker. The gear and loot guide explains rarities, Runes and the Forge.
Seven tips for your first run
- Do the First Shift Training. Five short steps: move, pick up 2 cargo, cash in, Dash, Flash. The shift timer is paused for the first three. Finishing it once gives 10 Enhance Stones, and you can skip it or replay it with Replay Training in Settings.
- Cash in 2 to 3 cargo at a time. With the starting basket of 3, three cargo (×1.7) is the best bundle. Do not wait around for more: a hit spills everything you carry.
- Keep the Combo alive. Cash in again within 20 seconds, and avoid hits so the multiplier keeps climbing.
- Flash early, Dash through. Press Flash before threats touch you, especially when your basket is empty because then a hit costs HP. Use Dash to cross danger: you are invulnerable for about 0.28 seconds.
- Pick spilled cargo up fast. It disappears 5 seconds after it spills.
- Read the warnings. Bosses, Mythic mobs and several regular threats draw a shape on the floor before they attack. Step out of it before it fills.
- Equip and enhance after each run. Open Gear Setup, equip stronger gear and spend Enhance Stones in the Enhance tab. Gear never breaks when enhancing fails.
FAQ
How do you move and attack in Afterclose: Night Delivery?
Press and drag anywhere on the screen to move Pico with a floating joystick. Attacks are automatic: Pico's Scan hits nearby threats and cargo is picked up when you get close. The Dash and Flash buttons are at the bottom right.
How do bundles and combos change my score?
Cashing in 2 cargo at once multiplies the payout by ×1.3, 3 by ×1.7, 4 by ×2.2, 5 by ×2.8 and 6 or more by ×3. Each Combo step adds 15% more, and Fever Time doubles payouts.
What is a Jackpot Payout?
It is the shout you get when one payout is worth at least 40% of the shift's quota. Below that, a payout of at least 25% gives a Big Payout instead (or 'Jackpot! N Bundles!!' if you cashed in 5 or more cargo), and the random Lucky bonuses of ×2, ×3 and ×5 are separate. A big bundle of high-value cargo during a Combo or Fever Time is the best way to trigger it.
What ends a run, and how long is a shift?
A standard shift lasts 60 seconds (large stores add a little). A run ends when the timer runs out before you reach the quota, when you run out of HP, or when closing time arrives with a Boss still alive. You can Revive once per game by watching a rewarded ad.
